The significance of self efficacy for action in entrepreneurial journey is unassailable. Diverse studies conducted across the world suggest that experience of becoming mother and raising child nurtures a woman’s confidence in general and entrepreneurial self-efficacy in particular. This has led to shaping of the belief that motherhood is a step that motivates a woman to push the envelope for creating a venture and run it. Mumpreneurship or Entrepreneurship by women, though not a new phenomenon, is now being developed as a concept that may be described as ‘the creation of a new business venture by a woman who identifies as both a mother and a business woman, is motivated primarily by achieving work-life balance, and picks an opportunity linked to the particular experience of having children.’Entrepreneurial thought leaders around the world are unequivocal about Mumpreneurship constituting a strong affirmative action in terms of a woman’s identity and dual role in society.

Preeti Tyagi, a noble venturist and a successful Mumpreneur, secures spot in The CEO magazine’s this issue devoted to celebrate success of budding women entrepreneurs. Preeti is Co-founder & Director of Wow Kids, an ISO 9001:2000 certified PreschoolChainbuilt on anAmerican Concept with the mission of ‘providing outstanding education capable of exploring the potentials in each child and transforming them into young adults well equipped to face life challenges with confidence’. A home – away – from – home, the preschool runs an experiential learning based Curriculum that strongly focuses on children’s overall development covering all the three domains of learning (Cognitive, affective and psychomotor).

Preeti has been a senior level industry Executive for over ten years. She served as Senior Executive Operations with GE Capital International Services and worked with IBM Global Process Services at Managerial post in Quality Department. She contributed significantly during her stint with both the leading organizations that led to acquiring a rich experience and expertise.

Preeti co-founded Wow Kids with her husband, Atul Tyagi in 2013. Initially, she looked after the administration single-handedly. Later, her husband joined her in 2016. Preeti has always been an enterprising spirit and a purpose driven woman. In a chat with The CEO Magazine, she shares, “I always had an inclination towards venturing on my own. My father and my grandfather, two diligent and successful businessmen in the family, have inspired me since childhood.”

People with great qualities around Preeti are a source of inspiration to her. Their qualities shape her ideals. She derives inspiration from her father’s hard working spirit. Her husband’s strict adherence to perfection motivates her to execute everything with integrity and precision.

An experience that she had after she became a mother ultimately fueled her passion for entrepreneurship. Preeti is a happily married woman blessed with five years old twins. Like every careful mother, she wanted her kids to receive the best preschool education. But, she couldn’t found one good preschool in Panjim, Goa. After a good research, she figured out that the affordable schools don’t provide quality education and the schools that guarantee quality education are very expensive. Preeti was determined about not to compromise with her kids’ education. This gap existing in quality education stimulated her to step into the entrepreneurial journey and establish Wow Kids. She considers it as the best decision she has ever made. Preeti shares, “I stood by my decision of putting my children in the school of my choice; my decision turned out to be the best one as it led to many other good decisions. The decision helped me realize that it is the right time for me to start something on my own and gave me enough courage to do that. It triggered the entrepreneurial spirit in me and encouraged me to work towards transforming preschool education system in India leveraging my skills and expertise.”

A budding entrepreneur Preeti also experienced failures while traversing the path towards success. However, she considered failure as stepping stone to success instead of giving up and learned from them. She says, “It’s good to have failures around. I believe that without failing in something you can never learn or become successful. Failures give us a better insight into the problem and provide us the opportunity to take another approach towards finding solution.”

Speaking of success, Preeti shares, “It gives us a great sense of achievement that we have been able to satisfy parents; they are happy and delighted with their children’s education and the progress of their child. They refer us to other parents. Their satisfaction translates into numbers and helps us climb the ladder. We have grown from two to twelve hundred in three years and have more than forty branches in twelve states. That forms the basis for measuring our success.” She insists that to achieve long term sustainable success one should never be complacent with his achievements. A person must keep taking risks and challenges; must keep on innovating; and his strive for achieving excellence must go on.”

On being asked about whomshe attributes her success to, Preeti asserts that her entire team and everyone who has been associated with Wow Kids have contributed significantly in taking the organization where it is today. She adds, “End of the day success comes from teamwork and it would be a lie to say that one person has created something. I proudly attribute my success to each and every team member of Wow Kids, our staff, our team members, our partners and not to mention parents as they trusted as when we started and helped us in establishing as a brand.”

Expressing her views upon if her professional life effects her personallife, Preeti says, “Yes, very positively; it has been amazing for me”. She devotes half of the day to her work and rest of the day to her kids and family. She enjoys the freedom of spending time with her kids. Moreover, she loves children and is passionate about nurturing their development.

She informs us about her future plans at Wow Kids saying, “We are following a clear roadmap towards achieving growth at Wow Kids and setting up nearly seventy more centers across India. We envision Wow Kids in every tier 2, tier 3 ,tier 4 cities and rural areas; we are expanding in metros as well.” Withal, she is more focused towards expanding the preschool’s footprints in rural areas as children there are acutely deprived of quality education.
