Raised in a Tamil Hindu Brahmin family in Chennai, she attended the Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. In 1980, she joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a strategy consultant, marking the beginning of her illustrious career. She later held key positions at Motorola and Asea Brown Boveri, showcasing her strategic acumen and leadership abilities.

In her personal life, Indra Nooyi upholds family values and a balanced lifestyle. Married to Raj K. Nooyi since 1981, she is a devoted mother of two daughters. Forbes acknowledged her as the third most powerful mom globally, recognising her ability to excel in both her career and family life.

Her family boasts a wealth of talent, including her sister Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon, a successful businesswoman and Grammy-nominated artist, and her cousin Aruna Sairam, a renowned South Indian Carnatic musician.

During her time in India, Indra Nooyi also indulged in hobbies like cricket and music, demonstrating her diverse interests and talents.
