Growing up in Mumbai amidst a family deeply rooted in medicine, with her father, Dr Sushil Shah, and mother, Dr Duru Shah, both distinguished professionals in pathology and gynaecology, respectively, Ameera Shah was inherently immersed in the medical world. Pursuing her education, she commenced her academic journey with commerce studies at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, followed by a finance degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Under her dynamic leadership, the enterprise metamorphosed from a solitary diagnostic lab with $1.5 million in revenue and 40 employees into the formidable entity known as Metropolis Healthcare. Today, this multinational conglomerate boasts 125 diagnostic labs, generating an impressive $90 million in revenue and employing over 4,500 individuals. Ameera’s visionary strategies and astute business acumen culminated in the successful listing of the company in April 2019, marking a monumental milestone in the healthcare industry.

Ameera Shah’s influence extends beyond the realms of Metropolis Healthcare, as evidenced by her engagements across various boards and affiliations. Notable among these are her roles as a Board Member of Marico Kaya Enterprises Limited, Independent Director at Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited, Shoppers Stop Limited, and Kaya Limited, as well as an Advisor to Baylor College of Medicine and a Member of the Global Advisory Board of AXA. 

Moreover, she has made significant contributions by serving as the secretary of the Indian Association of Pathology Laboratories (IAPL) and co-chairing the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Health Services Committee in 2012.
